Create and manage 3D polygonal models
Contribute 3D modeling to a project in a team or individual environment.
Perform research on the intranet and internet for information required to accurately create a technical 3d model. Research is a main component of the position.
Liaise with subject matter experts (SME) to obtain information as to how a part functions.
Maintain departmental modeling standards.
Perform archiving of models for the department. This includes working with files from others.
Provide weekly progress report updates for assigned workload.
Education:
Applicant must have obtained a 2 year certificate as a minimum requirement.
Experience:
Applicant is required to have 4-7 years of experience working in 3D field. Candidate must be able to provide examples of work.
Skills:
Applicant must have a good knowledge and can perform 3d modeling
Must be able to read 2d CAD drawings
Must have experience with 3DS Max, Autocad(3d)or Lightwave. Other packages 3D tools may be considered depending on examples.
Must be able to draw and present concepts
Must be willing to learn new 3D skills and software as required
Strong understanding of lighting, mapping and cameras
Animation skills is a secondary requirement but considered a plus
Understanding of rigging for 3D models
Must be able conduct one’s self accordingly in a professional business environment.
Ingenuity:
The 3D modeler may be required to create 3d models with very little source material available. Ingenuity must be used to determine how to gather the necessary information in order to complete the assignment.
Decision Making:
The 3D modeler will be required to self-assess the progress of an assigned task. Decision making skills are required to successful project manage the workload
