Job Summary-Archaeologist job description

To lead and manage field crews and perform field research, participating in data analysis, interpretation, and report preparation.

# Instruct employees in special tasks and job techniques.

# Track work in progress, manages field budget and staff, modifies work techniques and recording procedures as necessary, and reports performance of staff and project results to the Project Manager.

#Assist with technical report writing and production, including eligibility recommendations and review of sections prepared by less experienced staff.

# Assist and support the Project Manager in the preparation of proposals and provide feedback on time and/or staffing needs.

# The work schedule can commonly require more than 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week.

#Ability to accurately record data in the field without assistance from other employees.

# Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, often in rugged terrain, carrying equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Archaeologist job description

Qualifications

# At minimum, a MA or MS degree from an accredited institution in the field of anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or a closely related field. Applicants with archaeological work experience equivalent to a MA or MS degree
may also be considered.

# The Field Director must have a minimum of three years of experience in Southwestern or Great Basin archaeology.
 

# Knowledge and experience in archaeological survey, testing and data recovery, and monitoring.
