To assist in the preparation, cooking and regeneration of food for staff in conjunction with other members of the kitchen staff, and in accordance with the procedures laid down for the cook-chill conventional process.
1. Organisation of work in accordance with work schedules.
2. To assist with preparation, cooking and regeneration of dishes using standardised recipes at the prescribed times and to an agreed standard.
3. Portioning of cook-chill/conventional food as required.
4. Exercising strict portioning control.
5. Assisting in the service of food to patients and staff as required.
6. Ensuring the food is monitored for temperature and quality in accordance with guidelines on cook-chill food.
7. To clean prescribed areas and equipment in accordance with hygiene schedules.
8. To observe good personal hygiene practices and maintain a clean and tidy appearance.
9. To observe correct use and care of equipment.
10. To report defects in machinery or materials to Supervisor immediately.
11. To co-operate with other members of staff in the efficient running of the work place and monitor good working relationships with wards and departments.
12. Complies with all elements of the Authority’s Health and Safety Policy.
13. To report any accidents immediately.
14. To account for materials used and for return of equipment in a proper condition to its place.
15. Clearing the area of rubbish at frequent intervals.
16. Service and preparation of food for the patients and staff.
17. Temperature testing meals at kitchen and ward level and checking of food quality prior to serving.
18. Attend relevant training sessions as required.
19. Delivery of patient meals as required.
20. Other duties as specified by Supervisors or Managers.
22. Completion of stock records and procedures as required.
NB.Continual monitoring and assessment of work carried out will be undertaken by
managers and supervisors.
