1. Evaluate, price & negotiate programme licence fees and development deals with independent producers, ensuring prices are in accordance with the Code of Practice principles and value for money.
2. Working to the Senior Legal and Business Affairs Manager and with the legal support team, to draft, negotiate and conclude contracts with independent producers, commissions, and co productions and acquisitions; draft, negotiate and conclude contracts with key talent.
3. Advise commissioning execs on risks associated with their independent commissions and actively manage that risk on behalf of the company.
4. Proactively build effective working relationships with external suppliers and internal colleagues.

5. Consider at all times the non linear TV aspects of the project, liaise with colleagues to ensure that thinking is joined up and conduct business affairs dealings where appropriate.
6. Provide assistance and guidance to independent producers and colleagues and promoting good practice with independent producers.
7. As appropriate to approve Underlying Agreements including Agreements with Producers, Directors, Writers, Composers and other contributors` contracts, Underlying Rights agreements such as Book Agreements, and Format and Third Party Distribution. In certain circumstances to initiate book option agreements to be passed to Indies.
8. With editorial colleagues, ensure that Commissioning Specifications are effectively completed and manage any changes through the process.
9. Manage the stage payments on productions ensuring the company risk is managed by regularly reviewing progress reports, checking that key underlying agreements are signed and that outstanding elements of the commissioning specification are agreed at the appropriate stage.
10. Produce regular and ad hoc reporting relating to independent commissions, as required.
11. Produce and submit genre actuals and forecast numbers to TV finance in SAP including detailed review of Results Analysis and overall reasonableness review of the numbers prior to submission.
12. Supervising, co-ordinating and scheduling activities of direct reports, providing advice and support, resolving issues where necessary and promoting good working practices to create an environment in which the team feels motivated.
13. To secure appropriate financial approvals from internal management in a timely way.
14. Conduct any necessary checks and investigations in order to protect the company investment.
15. Collaborate across Genres in order to ensure consistency of approach and aid both external and internal relations.
5. Exercise professional judgement in the management of company dealings with independent producers so as to minimise the risks associated with the commissioning of programmes.

Qualifications
Education to graduate level desirable.
Financial or Legal Qualification desirable but not essential.
Experience
Substantial broadcasting experience in a Production Management, Production Finance or Legal/ Business Affairs role.
Previous experience in the TV broadcasting environment is required within one of these disciplines: Finance, Business or Legal. Demonstrable exposure and understanding of at least one of the other disciplines.
Demonstrable experience of complex negotiations in the TV landscape, within a finance, legal or business role.
Experience of data interpretation and providing advice.
Experience of working in a commissioning environment desirable.
