Main responsibilities-Care Support Worker Mental Health Job Description

Assists registered nurses in delivering safe and effective care to patients and
respects patients’ personal dignity and beliefs.

Maintains a safe care environment in the ward/department with particular reference
to infection control and the safety and welfare of patients, visitors and other staff.

Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with good interpersonal and customer care
skills and a tactful and empathetic approach.

Recognises, reviews and reports any changes to a patient’s/client’s condition,
including any action taken to the nurse in charge of the patient.

Prioritises care and attention required by patients.

Ensures that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Complies with Trust and NHS Professionals’ policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Care Support Worker Mental Health Job Description

Requirements

6 months experience as a Care Support Worker (or equivalent position) in a hospital
environment in the last 2 years.

Literate and numerate, able to speak and understand English and to interpret and
follow written and verbal instructions correctly.

Able to deal with distressing and emotionally challenging circumstances.

Basic clinical observation skills, where required by the nature of the assignment.

Passes occupational health assessment.

Eligibility to work in the UK.
