A front-end web developer to join a world class team responsible for extremely high-profile products. The role requires an excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, object-oriented JavaScript, PHP, accessibility issues, web standards, and proven experience of working in a mixed discipline team on large scale web application projects.
Main responsibilities-Client Side Developer Job Description
Write complex code using semantic X/HTML, CSS and other equivalent client side technologies to create content production templates or other interactive elements
Write object-oriented JavaScript applications using techniques such as AJAX, DOM manipulation and use of JavaScript libraries
Template code sections using PHP, XSSI, Template Toolkit or similar technologies
Contribute to design and build of all front-end components (presentation, templating, controller, client-side behaviour, integration to data services etc)
Liaise with the product manager to ensure that all technical possibilities are explored and that products achieve the best possible look, feel and functionality
Liaise with designers and software engineers throughout the project phase to produce working designs

Be responsible for work quality and process, ensuring it meets team and Online technical standards and guidelines
Create and manipulate basic graphics for incorporation into interactive output
Version control & document all coding work undertaken
Monitor work against the production schedule closely and provide progress updates and report any issues or technical difficulties to senior colleagues on a regular basis
Further information, ideas and best practice with other technical teams in the company and the wider development community
Assist with the development of relevant standards and guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Client Side Developer Job Description
Essential
World-class hands-on development skills and proven industry experience in X/HTML, CSS, Object Oriented JavaScript including the use of AJAX techniques, Cross-browser compatibility and accessibility
Knowledge and commercial experience of accessibility, usability, cross-browser issues and a good understanding of related W3C standards.
Experience of working in a template driven environment (PHP systems, template toolkit, SSI, CMS, etc)
An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate client business requirements into technical solutions
Experience of commercial web development processes and environment where products have to be delivered to specific time-scales
Experience in project management and/or project-based working, including an understanding of Agile development techniques
Well-developed analytical and investigative skills
A good understanding of open standards & protocols
Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by teams other than your own
Desirable Client Side Developer Job Description
Extensive experience of PHP using frameworks, ideally Zend Framework.
Working in a test-driven development process
Knowledge of user experience design and information architecture principles and techniques
Experience of working with code repositories (e.g. SVN) and bug tracking tools (e.g. Trac, JIRA)
