Communications Co-ordinator Job Description

Job Summary-Communications Co-ordinator

To deliver communications to support strategic objectives across the company.

To ensure that the activities in the Communications Plan are carried out effectively.

In conjunction with management to act as client lead in interfacing with outsourced service providers and other service contractors, to ensure the effective and timely delivery of communications to staff.

The role of the Communications Coordinator is to provide dedicated support and to ensure that communications are disseminated appropriately and effectively.

Working collaboratively with the management and communications teams, the Communications Coordinator will need to be aware of the work of all the different company areas and ensure that this is accurately represented through all communications channels.

The aim of the role is to achieve a consistent standard of clear and timely communications set by the Communications Plan.

Main responsibilities-Communications Co-ordinator

 Delivering communications to staff (including service suppliers), and external customers.

Contributing, where appropriate, to the development, planning and execution of the Communications Plan.

Implementing campaigns, projects, and initiatives, to support the delivery of activities. Provide feedback on delivery and outcomes.

Provide input on the most appropriate and effective methods of delivery of communications.

Provide project management on specific campaigns and projects to support the delivery of communication objectives including input into the management of associated budgets, contracts and timelines.

Identify and co-ordinate staff to assist in delivering campaigns and projects.

Build relationships and contacts across the company with those who can assist in the delivery of campaigns and projects.

Work with an approved set of documents to ensure a common standard of communications. These documents include:
The Communications Plan
The Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
The Corporate Property Plan (CPP)
The Strategic Plan (WoSP)
The Communications Calendar

To compile, edit and deliver a monthly newsletter.

Responsible for organising a monthly programme of Learning Lunches for staff, including booking venues, guest speakers and hospitality. Arranging the sound/video recording of the events and posting this on the intranet site.

To maintain editorial control of the departmental intranet site including overseeing the posting of news stories and updating of information for staff.

 Communications Co-ordinator Job Description

To manage the development of the intranet site including the migration to a new content management system (from Frontpage to Immediacy) in 2010.

Provide front line client liaison and relationship management; with its supply chain including senior managers, external partners and suppliers, ensuring adherence to established standards, compliance and guidelines.

Ensure appropriate legal and contractual arrangements are in place for any external suppliers appointed to support the communications team.

Comply with all relevant safety rules, procedures and guidelines. To be aware of responsibilities under editorial and safety guidelines. Provide risk assessments where necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Communications Co-ordinator

Essential-CIPD Qualified (preferably MCIPD or FCIPD).

Proven experience working as an HR Advisor / Manager level or equivalent ideally from a related industry sector environment

Desirable-Degree, experience in working in medium sized, multi-site, engineering / manufacturing organisation.
