Context
The team is responsible for consistency of design, accessibility and user experience across the networks and devices within the ORGANISDATION’s non-linear platforms. The fundamental purpose of this group is to foster user experience strategy and greater consistency in these experiences through the peer review of “tent pole” projects, stewardship of new standards and guidelines with regard to User Experience and fostering a true centre of excellence for experience design within the ORGANISATION.
• To contribute to ORGANISATION strategy and policies for user experience design across the full range of platforms, products and services, agreeing and managing design guidelines to ensure consistency and high quality across the ORGANISATION
• To drive the delivery of projects, and give creative direction to major future media propositions, capitalising on innovative tools and techniques.
• To deliver a range of innovative applications that lead to superior user experiences on a range of platforms and where appropriate, to a consistent cross-platform user experience
• To keep abreast of industry developments in new platforms, design and technology and be able to interpret how these would impact ORGANISATION services from a design perspective.
• To be a senior point of expertise on all user experience design issues, industry trends and developing technologies.
• To work closely with Marketing, Communications and Audiences, sharing insights around users and identifying changes in their relationships with new media products, navigation preferences and behaviour changes.
• To promote user-centred design and navigation, ensure that there is a coherent user interface that supports the business purpose and to improve and refine this constantly as user preferences and technologies evolve.
• To work closely with other divisions and external suppliers to facilitate good partnerships on project teams, sharing information and best practice and maintaining consistent strategies and standards in the overall style, guidelines, branding and design developments.
• To ensure usability and accessibility of all design for the broadest cross-section of public users.
• To represent the department externally and to ensure that the ORGANISATION’s output is viewed as a leading innovator by the creative industry and audiences.
• To comply with all relevant ORGANISATION safety rules, procedures and guidelines. To be aware of responsibilities under the ORGANISATION safety policy.
• To comply with the ORGANISATION’s policies on Diversity and accessibility and to apply the principles of the policy when carrying out the role.
• To be aware of the full extent of the financial and/or purchasing authority vested in the post, and to ensure that this is exercised in accordance with group and corporate financial arrangements.
• Highly experienced practioner in the field of user experience design, with understanding of how we can deliver audience needs and contribute to the ORGANISATION’s aims and aspirations.
• Exceptional communication, networking, influencing and persuading skills and the ability to gain respect through personal credibility, integrity and professionalism.
• The ability to contribute strategically and evaluate decisions in the short, medium and long term.
• Proven track record in establishing and sustaining effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Sound judgement and the flexibility of thought and approach to produce effective results in a matrix environment.
