A. To carry out research as directed in support of criminal investigations and to assist in the preparation of intelligence products through the focussed collection, evaluation and collation of data.
B. To organise and reduce large quantities of information into manageable and relevant data sets and to identify links between suspected offenders and committed crimes.
C. Carry out a variety of intelligence / background checks to assist officers and provide direction to investigations.
D. Assist in the preparation of target profiles to assist in planning intelligence-led operations.
To support the analysis process within the Force Intelligence Bureau by researching a wide range of criminal intelligence and data relating to crime and law enforcement issues, primarily in support of the Force Strategy.
Aiding investigations by carrying out background intelligence checks, you will organise and reduce large quantities of information into manageable sets whilst identifying links between suspected offenders and committed crimes.
E. Updating the intelligence system making all appropriate links for the effective retrieval of data.
F. Identifying information gaps and suggesting intelligence-gathering opportunities to aid continual development of the intelligence database.
G. Attend training courses relevant to the post.
H. Other relevant duties as directed.
Skills
Flexibility in working hours is required in this role, both in providing office cover between the current opening hours of 8am-6pm (these may be subject to change), with the ability to work extended hours if required in the event of a major incident.
Be adaptable and demonstrate the ability to work with both minimal supervision and within a team environment.
Be able to communicate at all levels, and build contacts with external agencies whilst maintaining a high level of integrity and security of information.
Monitor and evaluate incoming intelligence from a variety of open, closed and sensitive sources.
Knowledge
An understanding of the National Intelligence Model is essential, with the ability to support the production of analytical and intelligence products as set out in the model.
IT Skills
Have suitable I.T. skills (Unifi / PNC / Microsoft Office / Excel / PowerPoint, HOLMES) and be prepared to adapt to new computer systems for the retrieval of information. All candidates will be subject to Security Vetting.
