Main responsibilities- Director of Operations

The role holder has overall responsibility and accountability for;

- Ensuring change is delivered as specified by the Directors

- Meeting quality of service & performance targets in the most cost effective manner.

- The co-ordination and management of system owners and short term capacity plans. It is expected that the role holder will work across IT & Networks to ensure capacity is managed holistically for the short and long term.

- Meeting relevant industry and security standards as defined by business requirements.

- Operational Security of information systems & network infrastructure & all elements of the end to end service chain.

- Influencing vendor relationships, contracts and roadmaps, working with all parts of IT & Networks, to ensure maximum value, timely delivery and customer focused solutions

This role forms part of the Executive Management Team and, as such, will be expected to inspire and encourage the whole community by working with other Directors for the benefit of the company. This means demonstrating trust, mutual dependency, support and co-operation, such that it behaves and is regarded as a single unit focused on providing customers with an excellent and seamless end to end service.

They will be expected to anticipate, and take responsibility, for defining and delivering the IT and Network environments to meet the short term and long term aspirations of the business by focusing on ensuring the maximium benefit, in relation to investment,
 to customers.

Individuals will be expected to understand, and anticipate, industry trends in their specialist arena. They will be accountable for knowledge leadership by leading or coaching a specific team of experienced specialists and managers. This specialist knowledge will be used to shape the future. Individuals will initiate, and realise, business wide improvements, including systems and people processes. It is expected that the impact of major decisions, individually and collectively, will be five years and beyond.

The Director will run an operating unit or department, pulling together the work of people, teams and processes to achieve a planned output which benefits the organisation. You will ensure resources are appropriately allocated and managed to deliver the integrated output of the unit

Directors in IT and Networks will work in partnership with others at all levels across the company.
Individuals will be expected to work with all key customers and/or suppliers demonstrating evidence of working with
industry peers to share experiences and broaden knowledge base.

They will be accountable for shaping and managing difficult and complex situations to completion so the company benefits.

They will be accountable for owning key business, transversal processes, ensuring they’re fit for purpose, understood by the people
who have to use them and continually developed to ensuring maximum effectiveness across IT & Networks.

The role will have joint responsibility, and be an ambassador, for creating a positive environment for people who work in, and with,
IT & Networks. This will include:

- Encouraging & actively supporting cross functional communities to act in the best interests of the business and its customers.
- Positively driving change in the way decisions are made by proactively challenging the established mindset, ensuring the governance of IT & Networks
- Enable a feeling and environment of empowerment
- Promoting cross functional working which embraces joint accountability.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Director of Operations

 Significant relevant experience required for role.</li>
 
Experience of working in a high tech environment that shapes a market.

Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.

Proven track record of strong leadership skills defined by the company leadership model. Specifically, significant experience leading complex teams with evidence of:

- Strong track record of taking accountability for sound, timely decisions based on a broad commercial understanding, implementing and delivering significant business outcomes to time, cost and quality.
- Sets direction by painting the big picture, setting long and short term priorities to ensure delivery of collective goals and celebrating success.
- Talent management through empowering, coaching and developing others, taking action to raise the performance of teams and succession planning
- Driving and supporting management cycles and governance processes
- Demonstrates a global mindset by showing and respecting cultural differences and diversity, encouraging collaboration and pushing boundaries to drive change and encourage innovation in support of a company strategy
- Sharing successes, taking best-practice, ideas and resources from others, inside and outside the organisation to deliver a company strategy.
- In- depth experience of managing significant opex and/or capex budgets.
