The Wildlife Charity aims to help the greatest number of endangered species around the world by funding organisations internationally to protect wildlife.
You will bring leadership experience and entrepreneurial flair to this exciting new role to drive forward fundraising and operational management and the transformation and growth of the appeal.
Providing executive level leadership and strategic expertise, you will be accountable to the Board of Trustees and also manage large scale, creative and imaginative fundraising strategies and development of all activities.
A proven track record of strategic, operational and financial planning combined with experience of managing professional teams is required. Experience of running a charity is not essential but you will need a proven track record of delivering large scale events and an understanding of fundraising and governance matters. An effective communicator, you`llhave proven experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stake-holders at senior level. The role will involve some irregular office hours and travel.
JOB PURPOSE
* * To bring leadership expertise and direction to help transform the charity by growing its presence and reach within the strategic and accountability frameworks established by the board of trustees.
* * To show entrepreneurial flair in securing financial support to grow the charity and meet fundraising targets for disbursing funds to wildlife conservation projects
* * To bring imagination and creativity in devising off-air events
* * To build a strong supporter base of corporates, high-net-worth individuals, opinion formers and those able to offer pro-bono services
* * To engage, enthuse and build collaborative working relations with staff across the company, in particular the production community and editorial policy,
* * To positively engage the wildlife conservation sector and build partnerships
* * To have overall responsibility for the successful management of the operations of the charity including staffing, finances, strategic planning, grant-giving and governance
* * With the Chair, to enable the board of trustees to fulfil its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the organisations and to see to it that the board receives advice and information in a timely, thorough and appropriate manner.
* * With the board of trustees to devise and lead implementation of the business strategy for the charity
* * Lead a public relations and marketing campaign to help secure external support and raise awareness of the charity
* * Devise and implement a fundraising plan for both non-restricted core funding and for disbursing funds to wildlife conservation projects
* * Originate and implement a series of activities and events associated with the 2010 broadcast appeal
* * With the Chair, develop policies and practices to ensure operational best practice and manage risks
* * Advise and update the Board of Trustees to fulfill their responsibilities and ensure they receive appropriate and timely information and to report on organizational progress, providing information and answering for organisational performance
* * Manage and lead staff to achieve their best and help meet the charity objectives
* * Significant transformational leadership experience in a small to medium sized organisation.
* * Proven track record of strategic, operational and financial planning for growth
* * Experience of influencing and negotiating on complex business and policy issues with professional acumen and diplomacy
* * An in-depth understanding and proven track record of fundraising ideally through large scale public donation campaigns
* * Accomplished in delivering large scale events drawing on expertise both internal and external
* * A professional and creative outlook and a high standard of presentation skills, both oral and written
* * Building and maintaining a wide variety of professional relationships using highly developed interpersonal skills
* * Leadership and management of professional teams and proven experience of coaching and feedback
* * A working knowledge of the wildlife conservation sector
* * Understanding of broadcast media
* * The post holder will be required to work irregular office hours with some travel
