To provide a confidential, timely and accurate vetting check service which supports the Police in meeting its responsibilities and service level agreements with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and other agencies, specifically carrying out checks against police databases for persons applying for positions which allow substantial access to children, vulnerable adults and other licenced positions.
Disclosure Clerk job description
a) Conduct searches of all relevant local computer systems (and PNC as appropriate) using the personal details supplied by CRB or the potential employer, relating to an applicant to enable an enhanced disclosure to be made.
b) To notify the supervisor if they believe the details provided by CRB are incorrect, under the direction of the supervisor.
c) To present all positive searches to the supervisor, including those containing (only) non-conviction data.
d) To input all accurate and relevant data to the CRB following the agreed format of the screen.
e) To submit all accurate and relevant data to the CRB and other agencies within the specified timescales.
f) To receive, action and record all enquiries, redirecting callers if appropriate and keep an up to date and accurate record keeping system for all enquiries that have been dealt with, to ensure the smooth functioning of the unit.
g) To maintain a working knowledge of current legislation on disclosure.
h) Any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be requested by line management. [cont right]
3. Special Conditions/Points to Note:
a) Whilst the post is based primarily at the aforementioned location you may be required to work at other establishments on such duties as may be reasonably required of you and for which the appropriate allowances or transport will be provided.
b) The postholder may be required to work outside of normal office hours if necessitated by the exigencies of the service.
c) The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of duties and responsibility of the post. The detailed duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character or level of responsibility entailed.
d) All duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and good practice. A 'No Smoking in the Work Place' policy applies.
Disclosure Clerk job description
1. Previous experience of using computer systems, particularly databases, to include keyboard skills.
2. Evidence of self motivation and enthusiasm, with the ability to work effectively with the minimum of supervision.
3. Demonstrate good organisation skills, showing attention to accuracy and detail.
4. Proven experience of organising and completing tasks within given deadlines.
5. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proven ability to work effectively and flexibly within a team environment.
7. Proven ability to process quantities of data in a confidential manner
Desirable Criteria
1. Previous experience of using Police computer systems.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of Data Protection and Disclosure legislation.
