The postholder will be a member of the hyper-acute and acute stroke service team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POST
Provide High Quality Care to Patients in Stroke Medicine
The postholder will:-
• Be responsible for the day to day management of patients on the acute and hyper-acute stroke wards, providing high quality care under the supervision of a consultant. There will be specialist registrar cover on the wards, and other junior doctors.
• Assist with the assessment and management of stroke patients and take part in the acute stroke service out of hours rota.
• Be expected to undertake limited administrative duties needed for clinical support. Adequate secretarial help will be available.
Research, Teaching and Training
The postholder will:-
• Participate in audit and clinical governance projects.
• Be expected to teach the F1s and medical students and to participate in case presentations.
• Although this new post has not yet been recognized for training, be expected to attend regular departmental and general medical teaching sessions.
On GMC Register with license to practice
MBBS or equivalent
Experience
•Must have at least completed F2 year or equivalent

Special specific skills related to this post
Competent in basic clinical procedures
Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately
Research and Audit
Awareness of audit requirements
Previous participation in audit
Personal Attributes
• Ability to use initiative
