Job Summary-Fisheries Officer job description

 Co-ordinate and develop environmental improvements plans, in accordance with national legislation and policies to ensure compliant.

Provide effective and professional fisheries advice to fisheries, land owners, developers and to our own staff. Often this will involve negotiation and providing evidence and justification to effect change.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Fisheries Officer job description

A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and/or experience in fisheries management, experience of successfully influencing
 and excellent communication skills are therefore essential.

The key experience and skills required for the post are as follows:

It is essential that you will have relevant experience in Fisheries management derived from vocational experience
and/or a degree in a relevant discipline, including good knowledge and practical experience of fisheries management
and freshwater ecology, knowledge and experience of delivering fisheries enhancements and fisheries survey techniques.

It is essential that you are able to effectively communicate with, and influence, a wide range of customers and partners.

The ability to communicate to a range of people verbally and in writing is essential, and experience of dealing with the media is desirable.

It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of current fisheries issues, environmental legislation,
and Environment Agency policies relating to fisheries.

Experience of dealing with incidents and enforcement would be beneficial, as would knowledge and practical experience
of other Fisheries work such as angling participation and access projects.

Possession of a full driving licence and the ability to swim are essential, and it is desirable that you have experience or training in the use of off-road vehicles and boats.
