To ensure the safe and efficient fuel planning and navigation of company aircraft and provide flight crew with accurate documentation, which is compliant with appropriate regulatory authorities
Calculate and issue computer flight pans for all Company aircraft operations world wide, using a computer flight planning system as the primary tool
Ensure their accuracy and compliance with Company policies and Regulatory Authorities such as CAA, EASA and FAA
Ensure flight plans are delivered to the Flight Crew in a timely manner using various methods of transmission (SITA, FAX, Internet, etc)
File the flight plan with all the relevant Air Traffic authorities pertinent to the route each aircraft is flying, ensuring awareness of our aircrafts flight intentions and confirm receipt
Check and issue to Flight Crew the appropriate Weather, NOTAM and Company NOTAM briefs for each flight world wide
Check and issue to Flight Crew various charts (Significant Weather, Upper Winds, North Atlantic Tracks, Severe Weather Plots, specific Airspace Restrictions, etc.)
Check airfield and runway suitability, aircraft performance capabilities. Ensure destination, alternate, and en-route alternate weather minima meet the criteria required for the safe and legal operation of each aircraft type
Ensure company fuel policy and any fleet or general instructions are strictly adhered to
Use tactical information such as the Central Flow Management Unit (Eurocontrol) computer terminal, used to monitor slots, airspace and airfield restrictions in a real time environment
Provide effective and timely solutions to Operational problems, i.e. delays, diversions, weather or traffic
Ensure interaction and understanding between Flight Planning and all other tactical Operational areas
Ensure accurate information is available to all parties concerned when operational decisions are made
Liaison with Flight Management, Flight Crew, Authorities and Service Providers. Internal Departments, i.e., Commercial, Flight Technical Services, Outstations
Provide flight planning and crew briefing support for non-standard operations
Be currently employed as an Operational Flight Planner and have satisfactorily completed a formal training course as a Flight Planner
Must have current transatlantic/long haul planning experience
Must have ETOPS experience
Excellent communication skills
Excellent team working ability
A very high degree of accuracy and reliability is essential
Knowledge of all flight planning and crew briefing procedures and systems, aircraft capabilities and performance regulations, aeronautical data & navigational charts
Familiarity with CAA/EASA/ICAO, aircraft manufacturers publications & procedures
Knowledge of aircraft weight & balance procedures is advantageous
Knowledge of the FWZ/Sabre Flight Planning System would be an advantage
Applicants hired in operational control functions must demonstrate the capability of speaking and reading in a language that is common with other areas of the operation
