Main responsibilities-GIS Developer Job Description
To undertake development work on new and existing GIS applications.
To assist with formal analysis of user requirements with regard to new and existing systems, and to provide appropriate
design documentation.
To ensure that developed software is robust, performant and meets the user`s functional requirements.
To assist ICT staff in the preparation of complex searches and reports using SQL and spatial techniques as appropriate.
To assist in the formulation and implementation of standards for analysis, design, programming, testing and documentation, and
to ensure adherence to these standards.

To design and develop enterprise-scale GIS applications in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. To support and maintain
developed applications in line with predefined service levels.
To ensure that developed software has undergone unit and system testing prior to handover to the Testing and Integration Team.

To assist with the development and management of geospatial data within an enterprise environment, using a federated structure of corporate data servers.
To keep abreast of Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and local/national Security policies and ensure that such policies are adhered to.
To keep abreast of relevant developments within the computer industry.
Any other duties consistent with the job as directed by management.

Qualifications:Essential:
Degree in related technical discipline or a combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
Post-graduate technical qualification and / or relevant professional industry qualifications
Experience:
Experience of one or more of the following ESRI product set, e.g. ArcInfo, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcIMS or ArcSDE
Experience of relational database management systems
A good working knowledge of geographic information management and spatial data standards

Use of ESRI`s Model Builder
Experience of geodatabase design and administration
Experience of advanced geo-processing techniques
Experience using Ordnance Survey`s Integrated Transport Network data to develop routing applications
Web development, using server side scripting languages
