To work as part of the Haemophilia Centre multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of high standards of clinical practice in all aspects of the service.

To provide clinical and professional nursing expertise within the multi-disciplinary team for people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders.

Main Responsibilities [cont] Haemophilia Nurse job description

The post holder will promote a continuance of care between hospital, schools, home and the community settings.

The post holder will liaise with departments, agencies and services within and external to the rust to ensure patients receive best care.

The post holder will ensure adequate stocks of blood products and consumables are maintained.

Ensure patients with haemophilia and related disorders receive optimum quality care using available resources.

Quality & Audit Haemophilia Nurse job description

The post holder will promote a specialist information resource within and external to the Trust for people with haemophilia and related disorders. This will include educating other health care professionals.

Contribute to the development of nursing practice and patient focused services related to haemophilia. This will include contributing towards assessment, care planning and service provision for people with haemophilia and related disorders.

Ensure a continuance of quality care for people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders between hospital, school, home and the community settings.

Participate in and develop audit and data collection relevant to service provision and to ensure high quality outcomes.

Ensure clinical notes and nursing records are accurately maintained as specified by NMC.

Education & Training

Participate in continuing education to maintain relevant knowledge and clinical skills, be aware of current research and keep abreast of current professional issues.

To maintain good discipline and a high professional standard.

Participate in the provision of education for health care workers involved in caring for people with thrombosis and needing anticoagulation in hospital and community settings.

Keep abreast of current professional issues and maintain the knowledge and skills to perform the role effectively.

Develop and maintain a professional portfolio.

Research

Participate in clinical trials

Be aware of research in related clinical areas

Participate in conferences, locally, nationally and internationally

Qualifications

Registered first level nurse

Evidence of ENB998 level 2 or 3 study or willingness to undertake the same

Experience

Evidence of at least 1 years Post Registration experience.

Evidence of recent specialist experience in haemophilia

Knowledge

An understanding and knowledge of the management of haemophilia and related disorders.

Knowledge of the activities of the UK Haemophilia Nurses Association and to contribute to

these activities.

Skills and abilities Haemophilia Nurse job description

An ability to work with both children and adults

An ability to work as part of a complex multidisciplinary team

Good written and verbal communication skills

Well developed interpersonal skills

Demonstrate teaching, facilitating and coaching skills

Familiar and comfortable with the use of PC and IT systems

Able to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy

Time management

Administration of intravenous medications
