Job Summary-Head of Fleet Services job description
(a) To provide overall leadership and management for the company Fleet Services Department.
(b) To keep abreast of developments in transportation and ensure a range of appropriate transport options.
(c) To provide advice to management on their potential transport requirements.
(d) To monitor the fleet services budget position and develop an annual vehicle replacement programme to meet identified demands in accordance with agreed replacement criteria.
(e) To ensure that policy is complied with in relation to the acquisition and disposal of vehicles.

To be responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective transport service for the company, including servicing/repair facilities, vehicle replacement programme and budget monitoring.
Main responsibilities-Head of Fleet Services job description
(f) To prepare, monitor and manage both the capital and revenue budgets for Fleet Services Department in conjunction with representatives from Finance Department.

(g) To ensure that vehicles are maintained/repaired in the most cost effective manner.
(h) To be responsible for the maintenance of a fleet services database, which provides all necessary information in relation to:

- Repair details
- Vehicle mix, allocation and availability

- Charging rates
- Vehicle replacement programme
Fuel usage
(i) To ensure that the company complies with all legislative and health and safety requirements in respect of both transport and fuel issues.
(j) To monitor alternative sources of fuel and their suitability for company purposes, and to ensure appropriate health and safety matters are observed in relation to the storage and distribution of fuel.

(k) To negotiate with vehicle and spares suppliers, hire companies and insurance assessors as necessary.
(l) To attend meetings, functions, working parties etc as required
(n) To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as may from time to time be required.

Essential requirements
(a) A proven track record in a senior management position
(b) Experience of managing a large and diverse vehicle fleet
(c) Previous experience of managing a large budget
(d) Good interpersonal, leadership and team building skills
