1. To develop the strategy for systems in the Operations group, through working collaboratively with the division, the outsourced providers and technology colleagues.
2. To develop and manage relevant relationships within Operations, across external partners/suppliers to best support the business and to represent the ’s interests.
3. To act as the sponsor for relevant work by the rest of Technology, Distribution & Archive into the various Operations departments.
4. To have or build a network of technical subject matter experts in support of Operations’ overarching aims.

5. To establish and maintain prioritisation of systems investment that aligns to business priorities; ensuring that technology-enabled change is tracked and measured and that technology-related business risks for the division are identified, monitored and appropriately mitigated.
6. To share with the enterprise architecture team the roadmaps for business applications in Operations, to allow identification of gaps and overlaps and development of a product strategy.
7. To work with the Head of Business Systems Delivery to ensure that the business applications roadmaps are deliverable and that finance cases for proposed investment are appropriately scoped.
8. To define and steer the required outcomes of Operations system delivery projects.
9. To participate in procurements at various levels, ensuring alignment of requirements.
10. To work collaboratively with other Heads of Technology to take advantage of new technologies to use as a catalyst for change and innovation, actively driving that change with key business sponsors.
11. To communicate and disseminate information on technology across the division, being evangelical about the possibilities new technologies offer and encouraging their adoption.
12. To contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning..
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
• Extensive experience of setting the strategy for and delivering a portfolio of back-office system solutions.
• Proven expert in managing multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, communicating effectively, establishing consensus and facilitating decision making, including at senior executive levels.
• Demonstrable experience of working effectively within collaborative team structures, as a leader and team player, ideally in a technology based business environment.
• Capability to rapidly understand and accurately assess business needs and prioritise and propose suitable technical or process solutions.
• Strategic thinking: the ability to evaluate options in the short, medium and long term and balance short terms pressures against longer-term strategic requirements.
• Experience in major procurements of technology-based products and services from third parties.
• Experience of managing technology services in an outsourced services environment.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the and externally, including third party suppliers.
• Experience of implementing new initiatives or driving through process change and new ways of working.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical matters simply and clearly to non-technical colleagues.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable
• Knowledge of SAP HR solutions, and of Customer Relationship Management systems.
• Ability to bring about agreements in complex, multi-dimensional negotiations which are satisfactory to all parties.
• Numerate, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, manage budgets and ensure effective financial control.
• Conversant in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, procedures, and roles.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety practice as it relates to the .
