You will assist in the care and treatment of patients attending the department, under the direction of the registered nurses.
You should have the ability to work under pressure and be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and all staff. You will be adaptable and work flexibly as part of a team.
1. To assist the registered nurses in their duties and accept specific areas of responsibility as designated by the registered nurse on duty according to service requirements and the experience of the post holder.
2. To maintain satisfactory levels of stocks/supplies.
3. To answer the telephone in a professional manner and liaise with the registered nurse regarding all patient enquiries.
4. To be aware of the need for confidentiality with written, spoken and electronic word.
5. To function competently and safely when performing ECG and venepuncture. To erect IV fluids -normal saline only.
6. Prepare patients and equipment for procedures and assist medical/nursing staff during procedure.
7. To assist with bereaved relatives.
8. Escort patients to other department and give appropriate handov
9. When appropriate liaise with patient discharge services competently
10. To assist with the care of the mentally ill.
11. Act in accordance with Trust Health & Safety Policy, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
12. Act in accordance with Hospital Infection Control Policy.
13. To report any untoward incidents.
1 Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
2 The ability to navigate and use electronic web-based or Oracle HR Systems
3 Good Administration skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and workloads in a demanding environment
4 Excellent telephone manner and written communication skills with the ability to provide information clearly and concisely
5 Experience of delivering excellent customer care
6 Ability to follow instructions and processes in line with desk instructions and legal requirements
7 Possess an attention to detail and ability to work accurately
8 Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
9 Possess a positive attitude to change with the ability to be flexible and adaptable<
