Job Summary-HR Business Partner job description

Work in partnership with the business to provide specialist coaching, support and influence that enable key clients to effectively deliver their people plans. Provide a consultancy service that delivers best practice and commercially focused HR solutions that support the business area in conjunction with specialist HR functions.

Organisational Design

Drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organisational change, structures, people processes and business improvement initiatives within the business area in order to improve business efficiency and people management allowing for flexibility
and planned growth.
 
Provide both transformational advice and transactional support (contracting in services throughout HR where required) on change management initiatives, organisational / departmental restructures / job role design / outsourcing / TUPE transfers / redundancy
 situations) in order to improve cost and efficiency, clarify accountabilities and empower delivery of great customer service.

Employee Relations

Embed a performance management culture within the business area as a means of driving business improvement by ensuring clear objectives, feedback and the improvement of customer service through behaviours aligned with our values.

Provide training/coaching as required.

Working in partnership with the business to manage employee relations issues including the ongoing relations with Employee Forum/TU committees (where appropriate). Build management responsibility and capability for managing ER/IR (where appropriate) issues and improve the effectiveness of consultation

Proactively consult, influence and negotiate with Trade Union Officials on local and Company wide issues. Proactively work with the relevant Union body with regard to the interpretation and renegotiation of the collective agreement (where appropriate) with the Head of E.R.

Manage strategic ER / people issues, contracting in the services of specialist HR areas as required. Update the HR Support Centre / Head of Employee Relations where necessary

Identify gaps in existing HR policies and contribute to the development of new HR policies and procedures. Consult and deliver new/amended policies and procedures into the business area.

Resourcing

dentify short, medium and long term resourcing issues. Build and maintain the local manpower plans, co-ordinate with the relevant Recruitment Consultant over workforce supply and demand<

Challenge clients on new roles, replacement strategy, gradings, benefit bands etc

Reward and Recognition

Develop with clients local reward and recognition strategies and interventions in order to meet business needs in conjunction with reward specialists

Support the client in the Job Evaluation / Pay Benchmarking process for new positions or substantially changed roles including the provision of advice and guidance on the Reward and Recognition Strategy for that business area

Facilitate annual and ad-hoc reward and recognition interventions

Support the business in the research, discussion, negotiation and implementation stages of the pay award / negotiation process with Union bodies and employee committees (where appropriate)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-HR Business Partner job description

Experience within an HR Business Partner role

Appropriate people management qualification e.g. DMS, CIPD

The ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships within HR and the rest of the business

Experience of effective challenging and influencing at senior manager/Director level

Experience of providing a Consultancy and Contracting service

Experience of managing significant organisational change

Experience of developing HR strategy in line with business needs

Proven experience of managing and implementing projects and strategic change initiatives
