To develop and support infrastructure services for mobile data including network, telephony, mobile devices and desktop services.
This will cover the implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, security and management of all devices and services providing voice and data communication in line with business requirements.
To operate within the agreed policies and procedures and maintain quality and security standards and compatibility between systems.
a) Investigate hardware, software, network and operating system incidents, provide temporary workarounds and permanent solutions to incidents that arise.
b) Provide detailed, accurate technical advice and practical support to various departments.

d) Oversee the workmanship of sub-contractors, provide them with detailed instructions, monitor compliance and implement quality control measures.
e) Research, test, configure and install new hardware.
f) Assist in the lifecycle management of all infrastructure equipment. Ensure all equipment is asset coded and recorded in the configuration Management Database. Ensure stock levels are adequate and periodically tested ready for operational use and the correct disposal of any equipment.
g) Work alongside other internal and external teams to meet new business initiatives, implement new solutions, maintain services and assist with the testing requirements.
h) Provide and circulate, documentation of standard procedures, security, installations and fixes.
i) Manage and recommend authentication methods, secure login processes, and configure servers and software including Remote Security Authorisation equipment, in a manner compatible with current infrastructure.
j) Ensure that all equipment in operational use is security compliant and work closely with the Information Security Officer to monitor and update related policies and procedures.
k) Any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be requested by line management.

a) Whilst the post is based primarily at the aforementioned location you may be required to work at other establishments on such duties as may be reasonably required of you and for which the appropriate allowances or transport will be provided.
b) The postholder will normally be required to work standard hours but may be required to work at other times if necessitated by the exigencies of the service.
c) The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of duties and responsibility of the post. The detailed duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character or level of responsibility entailed.
d) All duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and good practice. A 'No Smoking in the Work Place' policy applies.
Essential
1. Good communication skills, particularly verbal skills, both in person and over the telephone.
2. Ability to process and analyse information in relation to fault diagnosis of both hardware and software.
3. Sound understanding of networking and communication technology and an in depth knowledge of MS Windows Desktop and Mobile operating systems.
4. Good working knowledge of ICT equipment including personal computers, mobile devices, network and communication devices.
5. Experience in some of the following:
a. Application Interfaces
b. Mobile applications. I.e. Java, HTML
c. Communication technologies i.e. GSM, GPRS, 3G, TETRA and Wireless.
d. CISCO network equipment
e. DX programming
6. Experience of supporting ICT systems in a business environment and working knowledge of Service Management (ITIL) principles project management technologies, Prince2 or similar.
7. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
8. Ability and willingness to be available for call-out outside of office hours, and ability to travel as required throughout the county.
