The IT Security Manager is responsible for the ongoing management and assurance of IT security, the development of security plans to deal with changing threats and for ensuring that security is embedded into the organisation`s change programme.
The role involves identifying and engaging stakeholders and working with them to ensure that organisation`s
security remains at the appropriate level and to influence programmes that will impact the security of services.
1. Accountable for ensuring security strategies comply with appropriate government and departmental Security Policies, Strategies and Standards.
2. Accountable for ensuring that the security strategy provides systems protection to meet organisation requirements.
3. Accountable for the assurance of security related solutions for new and existing systems including web platform / mobile and TV.
4. Responsible for developing and defining the organisation technical security strategy, policies, operating model, threat/risk models and assurance processes
5. Responsible for liaising with cross government security groups to support the accreditation process and ongoing development of organisation`s security needs
6. Responsible for assuring proposed amendments comply with the security strategy and implemented solutions have ongoing assurance processes.
7. Responsible for management and resolution of technical related security issues and providing security advice and guidance as appropriate.
8. Responsible for the ongoing assurance of security for current systems and advice to customers
9. Responsible for tracking current security threats and trends in the market and proposing and developing plans to counter them
10. Responsible for working with counterparts in other departments etc. to ensure that security and business needs are included in key programmes
Essential skills:
Experienced in managing IS Security, developing policies, procedures and guidelines in a complex environment.
Experience in the development, implementation and operation of IT Security Strategy within a complex multi supplier, multi platform environment.
Security best practice (including BS7799/ISO27001) and relevant legislation
IT Security, including identity and credential management, access policy and its management, authentication and SSO, authorisation, audit, secure communications and cryptographic services, network protection, data protection and privacy, security administration, security information base.
Good understanding of security implications arising from COTs implementations
