- Negotiate agreements
- Drive the performance of suppliers once agreements are in place

Build Business Relationships

Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key stakeholders within the category

Ensure contribution from stakeholders and obtain support for all purchasing activity

Ensure key business areas are appropriately involved in purchasing activities.

Raise awareness of Procurement and sell the opportunities and benefits from focusing strategically on purchasing activities.

Sourcing Job Description Purchasing Manager

Carry out sourcing activities in line with company standards

Establish the business requirements for all areas of expenditure which the role focuses on

Set out the baseline for existing costs and existing performance from suppliers

Develop sourcing strategies for key goods/services.

Obtain proposals and quotations from suppliers in order to negotiate and award contracts

Carry out thorough evaluation of proposals to determine the best fit to meet business requirements

Ensure a range of evidence is used to assess suppliers` capabilities to deliver business requirements

Understand opportunities for exerting leverage through alliances with shareholders, company and other third parties.

Carry out sourcing activity in a transparent and open way which promotes company values and behaviours. [cont right]

Carry out research and analysis on suppliers, markets and company requirements to identify opportunities to deliver performance and cost benefits

Technology

Drive the efficiency of all aspects of purchasing activity for this expenditure through using company purchasing technology

Support the use of Oracle i-procurement across the business to drive efficiency of the Procure to Pay process for this expenditure.

Define, develop and roll-out associated catalogues as a means of driving compliance and avoiding leakage and spending outside preferred suppliers.

Ensure sourcing activity utilises electronic Requests for Information, Proposals and Quotations.

Sustainability

Plan for contract(s) expiry and develop a contract(s) renewal plan in line with company standards for purchasing

Improve supplier performance in line with business requirements, sourcing strategies and the need for year on year efficiency

Ensure compliance from business stakeholders to the suppliers and solutions put in place for this expenditure.

Manage the cash flow impact of agreements with suppliers

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Job Description Purchasing Manager

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Strong negotiator with demonstrable track record of results

Effective communicator with strong influencing ability

Computer literate and experience with web-enabled procurement tools

Demonstrable strong organisation skills.

Experience of dealing with many suppliers from many different cultures

Process orientation with demonstrable application of procurement tools and techniques

Sound knowledge of contract law and negotiating on all commercial aspects of a relationship with a supplier.

Strong financial management skills

CIPS qualified or working towards it

Demonstrable analytical skills
