Job Summary-Kitchen Porter job description

To carry out general duties necessary to maintain a hygienic working environment, and support the activities of the cooks & chefs.

Working with colleagues to provide a safe kitchen and carry out other duties with due regard to cleanliness, both personal
 and unit, at all times.

Main responsibilities-Kitchen Porter job description

 To carry out general porter duties

To clean deep freezers and refrigerators weekly

To wash crockery, cutlery and utensils

To wash pots and pans

To clean walls up to raised arm level

To clean heavy equipment and stoves

To bring in the stores and milk

To check deliveries against invoice.

To empty the rubbish
Occasional

To prepare vegetables

To clean the staff room

To clear and clean tables in the dining area

To give assistance to cook/chef

Main characteristics

Working under pressure at peak hours

Possibly working in a restricted area

May work unsociable hours

Assumes responsibility for fulfilling all health and safety obligations appropriate to the grade as outlined in the Health & Safety (H&S) policy statement issued annually
