To service, maintain and repair the vehicle fleet. This includes undertaking pre work inspections as per policy guidelines and reporting on those suitable for vehicle replacement for economic reasons.
To complete all relevant documentation to the ISO standards whilst ensuring a safe working environment under Health and Safety Legislation.
1. To undertake the new commissioning, decommissioning, repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles and plant.
2. To undertake the service, inspection and repair of fleet vehicles and plant within policy guidelines. The postholder will be expected, when required, to operate at other workshops owned by the company. In addition the post holder may be required to undertake mobile repairs to vehicles, on company premises.

VEHICLE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
Effectively performs the full range of repairs and maintenance tasks on all force vehicles.
Be able to undertake routine servicing, identify faults in vehicle components and systems.
Able to use diagnostic equipment coupled with wiring diagrams and manufacturers directions.
Have an understanding of vehicle systems. E.g. cooling, brakes, steering, engine management, transmissions etc, with some specialist knowledge E.g. ABS, TRACS etc.
Is substantially experienced to perform the full range of repair and maintenance tasks as detailed in level 5 with also additional skills such as air conditioning familiarisation.
Must be willing to undertake trainee development providing on the job training.
May also be part of call out/recovery team and central to the major incident deployment team.
May also have some form of LGV licence. [cont right]
