Job Summary-Medical Secretary Job Description

Ensure that patients’ notes are logged on the PAS system, kept in a tidy state and held correctly prior to returning them to file or forwarding on to another department ensuring that at all times, these are accurately tracked on the patient administration system and in accordance with Trust policy.

􀂃 Deal with correspondence as appropriate to provide professional and timely communication links between patients/relatives and medical/clinical staff and ensure channels of communication are efficient and effective at all times.

􀂃 Ensure annual & study leave is managed appropriately

􀂃 Keep track of patients who fail to attend outpatient appointments / admissions to ensure they are
not lost in the system and avoid unnecessary delays.

􀂃 Provide cover for other medical secretaries in the division during periods of absence.

􀂃 Adherence to all AGN’s related to the medical secretarial role is mandatory.

Qualifications
English Language GCSE or equivalent
