OBJECTIVES:
• Program will proceed smoothly, as planned

TASKS:
Rehearsals
• Demonstrate extensive, proven experience in choral conducting at a high level
• Provide superior vocal instruction and music education
• Be able to structure rehearsals that balance enjoyment with hard work.
• Lead the choir in suitable pre-rehearsal warm-ups
• Providing input to the Marketing chair for promotional materials e.g. brochures and bookmarks.
• With Concert Co-coordinator, establish concert dates and venues for the following season’s concert lineup.
• With Concert Co-coordinator, identify and contact guest artist and determine appropriate compensation.
• With Concert Co-coordinator, identify and recruit a concert master of ceremonies
• Meet with the Acquisition Librarian prior to the season to discuss program plans.
• Maintain continual communication with both the acquisition and distribution librarians as program changes are finalized for each concert.
Concert planning:
• Provide input to the marketing chair for one or more news releases including publicity photographs when appropriate.
• Work within the concert budget established by the executive
• With Concert Co-coordinator, identify concert props, staging, recording/sound requirements
• With Concert Co-coordinator and concert marshal, identify responsibilities of concert marshal during rehearsal and concert
• Provide the Concert Co-coordinator with program notes for a script for the master of ceremonies
• Provide the Concert Co-coordinator with input towards the creation of a staging narrative for the choir membership, guest artist(s) and master of ceremonies
Concert Printed Program:
• Provide the Concert Co-coordinator the concert repertoire, its sequence and the arrangers/composers to be acknowledged.
• Provide the Concert Co-coordinator the names of an soloists/musicians and the pieces they will perform
• Be one of three proof readers
Meetings
• Attend monthly meetings of choir management committee & report on concert preparedness
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• Degree in music or equivalent experience required.
• Extensive knowledge of musical genres and choral repertoire
• Mid to high proficiency in piano
• Recent experience with conducting adult choirs
