Job Summary-Product Sales Adviser Job Description

To maximise sales amongst visitors to the Zoo focussing on face to face sales of the products sold from the Guest Services office including Gold and Platinum Passes, Animal Experiences, Adoptions and Birthday Parties either within the park or at exhibitions or county shows.

At times when there are less opportunities for face to face sales to work proactively to increase sales of tickets to companies for day visits, corporate hospitality events and team building and to build the zoo’s affiliate marketing programme.

Main responsibilities-Product Sales Adviser Job Description

• Product Sales, After suitable training to promote and increase face to face sales of the products sold in Guest Services – Gold and Platinum Passes, Keeper for the Day, Animal Adoptions, Keeper Shadowing, Fledgling Keeper, Cadet Keeper, Birthday Parties.
• To create a sales plan of other sales methods for products including emailing parents whose children have a forthcoming birthday and following this up with a sales call.
• To create a sales plan for schools and groups contacting organisations that have visited in previous years to see if they require more information and contacting new lists.
• To contact existing consignment ticket customers to organise the sales executive as the main contact for the programme. To build a database of companies, hotels, holiday parks, bed and breakfast accommodation, camp sites and staff associations of other organisations such as police and fire brigade contacting them regarding the opportunity to sell tickets to their visitors or staff.

• Monitoring the use of tickets and calling companies before they run out to reorder.
• To liaise with key staff at these organisations to ensure ticket sales are maximised including creating offers to drive traffic outside of peak periods.
• To develop and maintain the team building business following up leads and cold calling organisations that may be interested in organising team building events.
• To liaise with companies on the day of their visit to ensure that they have a good experience handing them over personally to the host for their event.
• To develop the Corporate Sponsorship Scheme and to proactively sell this to companies.
• To take over the running of a sales working group, co-ordinating ideas of ways to increase sales and reporting back to the management team.
• The post holder will be required to complete a daily report recording details of sales, eventually providing comparisons with previous months and years to track progress.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Product Sales Adviser Job Description

Skills required:
Must work well alone and as part of a team.
Must have excellent sales skills and be able to cold call contacts for potential business.
Must be able to plan strategically and carry out activity required.
Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
Must be computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office packages including Access.
 

Working environment
The Zoo is a non smoking environment and smoking is not permitted by members of staff whilst on the premises.
This position will be based out in the park as well as office based.
Some lifting of stock may be required after the correct manual handling procedure has been demonstrated.
