Production trainees required to become the programme makers and commissioners of the future. The trainee will undertake formal training, online learning, work placements and mentoring by a senior manager.
The emphasis of the training will be very much on storytelling and creativity as well as on craft and production skills. The work placements will be based in different parts of thecompany, and rotate approximately every four months.
Placements will be across TV, radio and online.
JOB PURPOSE
Trainees will work as production team members on a series of placements across different host divisions in the broadcasting company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carry out extensive research, gathering ideas for programme items, finding appropriate contributors along with new and archived material.
2. Develop an understanding of audiences, and how different programmes respond to different audience needs.
3. Take part in creative development sessions.
4. Develop skills in content production across all platforms.
5. Brief presenters and contributors.
6. Record interviews in studio and on location.
7. Operate technical equipment intended for self-operation -on location, desktops and in workshops.[cont right]

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Demonstrates knowledge of, interest in and passion for the media and broadcasting.
2. Ability to develop creative ideas.
3. Ability to work with others.
4. Experience of interacting with media as well as avidly consuming it.
5. Interest in working across a number of different media platforms.
6. Some understanding of our audiences and the brand.
7. Desire to acquire new skills as production processes change.
8. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
