Job Summary-Public Relations job description

This position requires complete knowledge and understanding of media relations and public relations communications principles with the ability to independently assess, determine, develop, apply and supervise the execution of media relations strategy and actions across the corporation in any circumstance or in response to any problem of critical importance, including crisis management.

The manager must demonstrate mature judgment and the ability to execute in fast-paced and complex environments involving more than one business unit. Outstanding writing ability, oral communications and project management skills are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  * # All aspects of media relations in support of the Company's strategic pursuits and enabling technologies
  * # Work with top-tier trade reporters in conjunction with company Businesses
  * # Develop story concepts and briefing documents for executive media engagements
  * # Support priority tier-one media opportunities and incoming requests
  * # Project-manage enterprise-wide teams and often lead PR support for domestic and international tradeshows
  * # Conduct research to monitor industry and competitive trends and issues and develop appropriate, proactive PR responses and actions;
  * # Understanding of web 2.0 technology and social media/PR tools;
  * # Support crisis communications planning and response;
  * # Work closely with business development, marketing communications, employee communications, community relations and executive communications to develop supporting media plans and activity.[cont right]

REQUIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  * # Must possess exemplary writing skills, solid grasp of English grammar and working knowledge of Associated Press style. Candidate must have demonstrated expertise writing for web and print environments.
  * # Experience working as a team member during crisis communications situations and working with business leaders to identify and manage issues critical to organizational success or failure.
  * # Extensive experience and successful track record with relationship management of trade media.
  * # Familiarity with a variety of external communications vehicles, practices, technology
  * # Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence all levels of management
  * # Must be a team player with proven ability to collaborate
  * # Solutions orientation
  * # Cool and calm under pressure

Required Education:

Bachelors or equivalent degree in Communications, Journalism or related field. Minimum eight years direct related experience.
