Quality Engineer job description

The Quality Engineer is responsible to the Engineering Manager for ensuring implementation of the Organisation's established Quality Audit Programme to monitor compliance with maintenance procedures at regular intervals in relation to each type of aircraft (or component) maintained in order to ensure that European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)/ Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements are fulfilled.

The maintenance and observance of the Air Support Unit Engineering Branch procedures as described within the Maintenance Organisation Exposition.

Is responsible for ensuring, through audits, that any observed non-compliance or poor maintenance standards are brought to the attention of the Engineering Manager, with a time scale for remedial action to be taken.

Has direct access to the Accountable Manager in the event of any reported discrepancy not being adequately attended to.

Will review and implement mandatory documentation.

Will manage the authorisation system.

Ensuring awareness of new and updated technical information issued by Authorities, manufacturers and suppliers and passing on such information to engineering personnel.

Maintain the Organisation`s Safety Management System (SMS), advising senior management as to the status of occurrences.

To advise and follow up any occurrence under the CAA Mandatory Occurrence Scheme (MOR).

Liaise with external Authorities as required.

Assist the Air Support Unit departments in the carrying out and completion of Risk Assessments.

Ensure the Unit`s continued BSI registration, BS EN ISO 9001:2000, `the provision and control of air operation activities, including the maintenance of rotary wing aircraft in support of various emergency services`.

Ensure the Unit continues to meet the requirements of the national Standard for effective Investment in People.

Give advise, when requested, on quality matters outside of the Unit.

The observance of Health and Safety requirements including COSHH.

Will support the Air Support Unit Internal Policing and Performance Plan in ensuring the safe deliverance of aircraft availability by the efficient use of available resources.
