Job Summary-Rights Management

- Create a Rights and Content Management strategy to meet the increasing demands of the businesses.
- Create and lead a Rights and Content Management customer- focused organisation; devising and managing appropriate Service Level Agreements and KPI’s to meet the Business’ increasingly urgent requirements and deadlines.

Main responsibilities-Rights Management

Recruit new permanent or temporary roles in support of the implementation of the Rights Management Management organisation.
Review/challenge existing processes relating to Rights and Content to ensure they are fit for purpose, effective, avoid unnecessary duplication or re-keying and meet business needs
Lead the new team to become accepted as the single source of expertise in rights and content availability and rights management across the organisation.
Ensure that the collation, analysis and verification of content and rights information is provided in a timely and accurate manner, by managing team workloads appropriately and understanding the peaks of the Sales cycle
Ensure that rights and content data within the RM system are managed proactively with accountability for the quality of the information provided to sales teams.

Support the training manager by setting and implementing training strategy, focussing on the development and coaching of Rights Management staff; specifically in the initial stages, system training and ensuring provision of system training resource to business users.
 
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all rights holding businesses ensuring that rights management needs are met and prioritised correctly. Liaise with all relevant areas of the business/sales teams to ensure that critical information flows and best practice necessary to support Rights and Deal management activities are understood and maintained.

Work to establish clear processes for managing Rights and Assets and ensuring that information is fed through to Asset related systems as appropriate.

Act as single interface between sales teams and commercial rights team for all queries relating to contributor clearances and costing.

Manage requests from sales teams for titles which are not cleansed during data migration and to ensure those titles are added to the database

Ensure RM team measure and report against Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements.

Represent and build relationships with the Talent Rights & Negotiation Group on the progress of current initiatives

Implement new processes to ensure rights information is updated in line with service changes and compliance issues.

Work collaboratively with all divisions to maximise the use of the Rights Management system and ensure effective processes across organisation.

Keep abreast of changes in Industry legislation, talent union agreements, music agreements etc as they pertain to rights management and exploitation.
Maintain an awareness of the impact of new technologies and delivery of content to consumers via new platforms.

System Implementation
Working with the R&DM project team and businesses:
- Act as Business lead, chairing / participating in all appropriate project boards and meetings
- Provide rights and content expertise and resolution of business and process queries.
- Responsible for data migration (both content and rights)from legacy systems, working with the Migration manager to ensure migration is completed accurately and to schedule and in line with business requirements and priorities
- Maintenance of project schedule and budget (in relation to RM organisation).
- Ensure team resource is sufficient for needs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Rights Management

Strong Leadership and decision-making skills, inspiring and motivating a team and large group of stakeholders.

Proven management skills at senior level
Experience in leading high quality customer service oriented operations

Expert knowledge in the acquisition of Rights for commercial distribution and distribution and contributor contracts

Excellent knowledge of the content distribution business and the underlying Sales Processes

Experience in establishing new business processes to support technology change and business evolution

Ability to initiate Change effectively and sensitively

Track record of Continuous Improvement and Best Practice

Ability to plan and prioritise activities including:
- Planning resources
- Identifying barriers to success
- Setting goals and objectives

Influencing and Negotiating skills to ensure stakeholder buy-in

Calmness under pressure

Ability to build professional relationships

Systems expertise in rights management platforms

Experience and expertise in Data Management

Knowledge and experience of portfolio and catalogues is desirable but not essential
