The shop sells a broad range of books, videos, audio tapes, gifts and related merchandise.

To implement and maintain the highest standards of customer service and operational effectiveness

To drive sales by creative and imaginative merchandising skills
To practise entrepreneurial and commercial flair to maximise sales

Minimise “Out of Stocks” whilst tightly controlling stock by improving “stock turn”
To accomplish annual budgeted sales, stock and costs

Main responsibilities-Sales Assistant Job Description

To offer and demonstrate exceptional standards of Customer Service
 
To provide customers with accurate and up to date information about the products
 
To operate effectively as part of the Retail team, actively seeking to promote and improve the business
 
To deliver a high level of operational effectiveness in accordance with Retail best practice
 
Carry out routine counter sales using a PC driven till, handling cash, cheque & credit card sales. Banking cash on a daily basis.
 
To maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines
 
To be vigilant and aware of security issues; operating shop security systems such as alarms, CCTV etc
 
Liaise closely with local supervisor - and agree working patterns which provide cover at all times required
 
Assist in regular stock control activity and stock replenishment
 
Order new releases and replenishment stock from suppliers
 
Receive and process supplier deliveries
 
Implement and maintain stock displays and merchandising
 
Maintain and utilise information provided by the retail EPoS system
 
Keep fully abreast with priority activities and campaigns and key initiatives
 
Effectively liase and communicate with line Managers, providing regular information on sales activity
 
Use available resources to improve and extend knowledge of products and forthcoming releases
 
To be willing to undertake any development training
