Job Summary-Senior Contracts Engineer job description

Responsible for providing commercial and contractual advice to the Project Management teams (PMTs), to promote understanding and interpretation of the main contract documentation following handover from Tendering and to ensure all possible variation orders and claims are identified, pursued and settled and all contractual disputes are resolved in an expedient manner.
 
Assist the Project Management Team in the identification and mitigation of project risk.

Main responsibilities- Senior Contracts Engineer job description

• Ensure proper handover of main contract documentation from Tendering to the Project PMTs and to assist the teams in ensuring the documentation is fully understood and properly executed.
• Supporting the PMTs with appropriate contractual and commercial advice, with support from the Legal Department and others as required.
• Liaison with PMTs leading to identification, preparation, negotiation and execution of all variation orders and other contractual claims such as insurance with clients.
• Liaison with PMTs, Legal department and others leading to analysis, preparation of responses, negotiation and settlement of all contractual disputes with clients and suppliers/subcontractors.

• Highlighting any major commercial or contractual risks or issues in the contract and during its execution to the Projects Management Teams / Executive Management, and working with them to ensure managed and properly mitigated.
• Ensuring adherence to risk management and approval procedures.
• Assisting with commercial/contractual training of PMTs.
• Co-ordination and delivery of company and departmental initiatives as required by Management e.g. systems and procedures, lessons learned (capture and feedback).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-Senior Contracts Engineer job description

• Professional or degree-level qualification in a Quantity Surveying/Contracts Management/Legal discipline
 
• Previous experience in a Project based contracting environment is essential
• Knowledge of the offshore industry would be beneficial
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
