Job Purpose-Electrician Job Description
To provide full electrical support and services to the running of the department including maintaining, installing, repairing and sourcing all things relating to the electrical systems. To be familiar with both single and three phase electrical based systems.
Key Responsibilities-Electrician Job Description
1-To plan and prepare any electrical installations and services of supplies and equipment to all areas of the department. To take into account any existing services and the requirements of the end users.
2- To diagnose and identify all electrical faults and to formulate a plan and repair programme, taking into account any costs and inconvenience to business requirements.
3- To assist the Maintenance Technician with all aspects of the maintenance and running of the building. To be a key holder for the building, including being on emergency call-out 24/7.
4- To maintain all the base electrical systems within the building, for example the mains control circuits, switch gear and lighting systems. To have a sound knowledge of the department’s complete electrical system, understand where all distribution boards are situated and ensure access to them all.
5- To liaise with facilities managers over their particular requirements. To assess the current electrical systems and establish what is practical for their needs. If an option is not considered suitable on the basis of electrical and H&S related issues, to present appropriate alternative electrical solutions that may better suit their needs.
6- To order all equipment and consumables for the installation and maintenance of the electrical systems, sourcing and obtaining quotes from suppliers.
7- To upgrade and alter the hardwiring of the department’s computer network as required or practicable.
8- To liaise with external contractors to ensure installations are suitable and well maintained. Instructs external contractors on the problems to be rectified, identifying the sites of the problems and checking the finished results.
Knowledge, Skills Experience and Education-Electrician Job Description
Experience working with finance IT systems.
Electrical experience in trade/industrial environments.
Electrical experience in domestic environments.
Use of all electrical meters and equipment.
Ability to work both in a team and alone with both single and three phase electrical systems
HNC, City & Guild, NVQ Electrical, IEE Regulations certification (18th Edition).
City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing.
Understand the needs of the staff and the department in order to deliver an excellent service. Have IT skills, for the purposes of locating supplies and sources of technical information
