Job Purpose-Head of Marketing and Communications Job Description


To lead and develop all aspects of corporate marketing and communications, developing and implementing plans and strategies in liaison with senior staff. To develop and maintain both internal & external relationships in support of the marketing & communications strategy and the profile raising of senior staff and department.



Main Responsibilities-Head of Marketing and Communications Job Description


1. To develop and implement marketing strategy and the supporting strategic marketing and communication plan in collaboration with senior colleagues. To support and advise the Executive team on all aspects of external and internal communications.


To develop relationships with key stakeholder groups including industry, media and within the wider organisation. To support the work of the Executive team through writing editorial and identifying external profile opportunities. To manage the marketing and communications budget.


2. To lead on press and media work, develop relationships with journalists/media and arranging media training for relevant colleagues. To manage media appearances by spokespeople and proactively seek PR opportunities for senior staff. Co-ordinating with the Communications team on media releases and other media opportunities to gain press coverage.


3.(i)To lead on PR/ Event management for VIPs, notably for major visits by key local, regional, national and international stakeholders, including Heads of State, Government Ministers, and CEOs of major global corporations.


(ii) To lead on the identification of external PR opportunities at external events.


4. To lead on communications collaborating with partners, as required. To ensure effective communications on initiatives as well as wider policy work.


5.(i)To direct the content management of the website and deliver continuous improvement through design and technological development. This requires horizon scanning of web and social media developments to ensure up to date with functionality to suit the customer base. This means and working with and directing both internal colleagues and external agencies to achieve these goals.



(ii) To maximise social media activities.


(iii) To lead on the production of content for digital signage and screens and non-digital material in buildings.


6. To manage the marketing and communications team including recruitment, annual reviews, performance and development.


7. To develop and manage the brand, acting as guardian of the brand. Collaborating with the Director of Marketing, as required.


8. To lead and manage the production of marketing collateral. To advise staff to ensure their externally-facing content is in line with branding guidelines and corporate identity.


9. To lead internal communications, working with the Executive team and Welfare & Communications Group, as well as the Internal Communications team.







Knowledge Skills and Responsibilities-Head of Marketing and Communications Job Description


1) Educated to degree level or equivalent.


2) Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing or equivalent.


3) Significant experience in a marketing and communications role within a complex organisation both in terms of strategy and practice.


4) Experience of working with the media.


5) Experience of web content management and digital technologies.


6)Demonstrable experience of publications management and strategic marketing and brand management.



7) Advertising planning experience.


8) Event management experience.


9) Experience of managing/coordinating internal communications.


10) Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce communications solutions under pressure.


11) Exceptional IT skills.


12) Highly developed diplomacy and negotiating skills, with a proven ability to persuade and influence others.


13) Exceptional Leadership and interpersonal skills.


14) Excellent project management and organisation skills in order to make sense of a fast-moving and diverse range of activities.


15) Ability to use creative flair to generate new ideas and follow through to completion.
