(In this example for a sports centre)

To provide a quality front of house service that meets the needs and expectations of our members and guests. Reception is the first point of call for information on everything we have to offer, as well promoting and selling of memberships, facilities, courses and events



Main Responsibilities-Job Description Receptionist


1. Build a good rapport and relationship with all members and guests.


2. Responding to customer enquiries with good sales and negotiation skills with an ability to upsell.


3. Keep up to date with current promotions, pricing and courses on offer.


4. To provide information to visitors, prospective and current members face to face, over the phone or via email.


5. Short term bookings of all facilities, adhering to facility rules and regulations.


6. Processing card payment through the reception till and reconciling reports.



7. To actively promote memberships, fitness classes, facilities, courses and events.


8. Housekeeping of records on Gladstone system, maintaining and updating the membership database system and other general administrative duties.


9. Regularly clean the reception area and ensure it is kept tidy.

Qualifications /Training


▪ Evidence of, or qualifications of working with Microsoft packages

e.g. Word, Excel and outlook


▪ Evidence of, or qualifications showing word processing skills


▪ First Aid



Experience/Knowledge


▪ Previous experience of working on reception/Front of house


▪ Experience of working in a customer focused environment


▪ Experience of working with booking systems


▪ Experience of working in a sports environment


▪ Experience of using a Leisure Management System.


▪ Experience of reconciling reports


Skills/Abilities



▪ Ability to multi task and work under pressure


▪ Ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes


▪ Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate

clearly and effectively.


▪ Ability to work independently and as part of a team


▪ Ability to promote Sports Centre Services.


Other


▪ Ability to meet the requirements of UK ‘right to work’ legislation


▪ All round interest in and enthusiasm for sport


▪ Willingness to work flexible hours, to cover shifts including early

mornings, evenings and weekends
